Dear TC Staff Members,
On Friday, March 21, Columbia University responded to the stipulations put forth by the Trump administration. We want you to know that we are focused on supporting TC students, faculty and staff with our policies, within our governance structure, and first and foremost, as a community.
Teachers College is analyzing any potential implications of the decision to TC and making plans accordingly. Community members are reminded that, as always, while on Columbia or any affiliate campus, you are responsible for adhering to their policies. Updates to Columbia’s rules can be found on their site.
We encourage community dialogue about this decision and are working to set up forums and meetings for students, faculty and staff members. Through TC ACT, we have an upcoming open staff forum where we welcome your questions and look forward to being together. This will take place on Wednesday, March 26, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. in Milbank Chapel. You can register here.
Our focus at TC is on doing everything necessary to protect the essential teaching and learning that takes place on our campus, and on ensuring a welcoming and safe campus community for all, supporting freedom of expression and adhering to our values. We are also continuing our efforts to restore the approximately $17.5 million in terminated grants to TC. As I outlined last Friday, this is a broad strategy that includes government relations, direct appeals, and media outreach.
In these times, our mission and values will guide us forward – that has always been the TC way.
Best,
Thomas Bailey
President
